CURRENT PROPERTIES UNDER DEVELOPMENT

“The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth” - The true story of Jackie Mitchell, a 17 year old Tennessee native, who in 1933 struck out Babe Ruth and became one of the first women in modern times to sign a major league baseball contract. ‘bel Films negotiated an agreement with the original screenplay writer, Rocky Lang, to direct the picture. Mr. Lang also produced Ridley Scott’s “White Squall” and directed HBO’s “Nervous Tics” and NBC’s “Remington Steele.” The Company is also negotiating with Erika Christensen, to star in the film as Jackie Mitchell, and is in active discussion with several potential distribution partners.

“Conquistadora” - The remarkable true story of one mother's tireless struggle to fulfill her dream to give her severely disabled twins some semblance of a normal childhood-the friendships, learning and cultural experiences provided by a public school education.

For recent immigrants Mary and Gerardo Somoza, making ends meet while raising their children in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City was a challenge, but when Mary gave birth to twin girls afflicted with Cerebral Palsy, it became a struggle for survival. In her determination to get her girls the help they need, and to which they are entitled by law, Mary exposes a system clogged by indifference and insensitivity. The normally simple process of getting both twins into public school turns into a titanic struggle over basic human rights that eventually involves the President of the United State and reveals the power a determined individual can still wield despite the enormity of forces arrayed against her.

“Altitude” - In this thrilling, highly charged youth love story, we follow the journey of 16-year-old Pierre “Pete” Balmat who, along with his mother, travels from his home in America to his mother’s native village in Switzerland where his grandmother is dying. Out of this misfortune comes new life as Pete, an awkward teenager in Indiana, comes into his own as a young man on the side of the legendary mountain, The Serpent’s Tooth, that killed his American father in a tragic and mysterious accident many years ago. In one of the greatest mountain rescue sequences ever to be filmed -- one of the few, unlike “Cliffhanger” or “Vertical Limit,” to actually live up to the reality of modern-day extreme mountaineering, we see Pete join forces with beautiful young Erika to clear his family name of the taint of his father’s tragic death and save her father and an international climbing party from certain death.

"The Little Prince" - The word “epic” is too often thrown around describing cinematic works; however, “The Little Prince,” is the true definition of an epic, detailing the lives and loves of trail-blazing French pilot and writer Antoine de Saint Exupery. Born at the turn of the last century, Antoine and his brother share a passionate love for flight heightened by their early experiences with the Wright Brothers. When his brother tragically dies at the age of 14, Antoine promises to see the world for him through the eye of the cockpit, keeping the infamous hand-drawn illustration of his younger brother by his side. Antoine’s ceaseless adventures lead him to action as a fighter pilot in WWI and a marriage in Paris between the wars where he befriended Hemmingway and Fitzgerald and produced the international best sellers “Night Flight” and “Wind, Sand and Stars.” He was a man who fought daily for his beliefs and instilled that passion into his readers. Although his dedication to flying and his flirtation with danger takes its toll on his personal life, Antoine bravely pioneers on - nearly dying several times while opening air routes over the Himalayas and the Andes. Finally, while defending his country, he is shot down flying for the US Air Force, a mission that remains a mystery to this day. Tragically, it is only after his passing that his last most powerful and perennially best selling novel “The Little Prince” is finally published. Because the scope of the picture requires an estimated $18 million budget, ‘bel Films is seeking international co-financing or an equity partner to take foreign rights while retaining domestic rights for the company. ‘bel Films’ exposure to the film will not exceed $5 million.
